Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) hosted a workshop to prepare a new 3-year Programme (2023 – 2025)

On 22-24 June 2022, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) hosted a workshop to prepare a new 3-year Programme (2023 – 2025) for the Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP) and the Annual International Training Course (AITC) at The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok. TIPP and AITC are two flagship human resource development (HRD) programmes offered by the Royal Thai Government to other developing countries. The opening session was presided over by Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of TICA.

The workshop was divided into five sessions which corresponded to the main 5+1 themes, namely (1) Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (2) Public Health (3) Agriculture and Food Security (4) Climate Change and Environmental Issues (5) Bio – Circular – Green Economy Model and     (6) Other SDGs-related Topics. A total of 301 course proposals were presented by the representatives from 38 government agencies and educational institutions in Bangkok and other provinces. TICA and               a committee of experts are considering details of each proposal and will select the courses which meet the requirements and are suitable for recipient countries’ level of development.

HRD cooperation forms part of international development assistance that enhances the human capacity of recipient countries which, in turn, will contribute to the national economic and social development in the            long run. TICA started to offer AITC awards in 1991 and TIPP scholarships in 2000. Every year, it provides approximately 30 – 35 AITC training awards and 50 – 80 TIPP scholarships to other developing countries under South-South Cooperation.
