Sustainable Forest Management for Poverty Reduction and Food Security in Thailand: Harmonizing Local People and Forest in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in cooperation with the Royal Forest Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment organized an international training course on “Sustainable Forest Management for Poverty Reduction and Food Security in Thailand: Harmonizing Local People and Forest in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)” during 14 – 25 February 2022 via an online platform. Participants who attend the course not less than 80% and received an E-certificate were 36 participants from 17 countries (Argentina, Bhutan, Ecuador, Indonesia, Jordan, Mali, Mauritius, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Togo, Turkiye, Zambia, Guyana and Vietnam). Organized under TICA’s Annual International Training Course or AITC framework, this course aims to share Thailand’s experiences and best practices in sustainable forest management to ensure food security and poverty reduction. The concept and application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy will also be introduced as an alternative development approach to achieving sustainable forestry.
